Breaking news out of Denver: 3rd round pick TE Jeff Heuerman suffers a torn ACL in rookie minicamp. During a special teams drill, Heuerman was running full speed down the field and made a cut when his knee gave way; he was carted off the field. This is the second rookie to suffer an ACL injury in 24 hours as Jaguars DE/LB Daunte Fowler Jr. also suffered a torn ACL in yesterday’s rookie minicamp. Head coach of the Broncos, Gary Kubiak, issued a statement following the injury: “I feel terrible for Jeff and this is a very unfortunate situation. Jeff was going to be a bif part of our team this year, and he is still going to be a big part of our team and organization in the near future. He’ll get well and be with us as part of this team throughout his rehabilitation.” Heuerman was drafted number 92 overall in the 3rd round out of Ohio State. With a lot of depth at TE, one wonders who will step up and make an impact this season?
